Looks like City has started some more Tee hangers. The new FBO is proceeding well.
Ask Luke Bowman about his new farm with airstrip. Congratulate Hal Bundy on getting married. Jack Slay gave his Kitfox to his son, Scott, who is planning on adding floats. Rumor has it that after Dick Jason's flight in his newly completed RV, he has assumed another project. President Tom Olson stays so busy, I can't get an interview for the "This is Who He Is' section of the newsletter. Jim Beisner is back and has sidekick, Jim Campbell, helping him. Steve Megill recently made some ramps for loading his motorcycle onto his new truck. Charley Westerman keeps his fingers in the shop no matter how often he is told he is retired <G>. "T" hanger rent increases continue to be discussed (read complained about) without any benefit. Rumor confirmed that Bud Davidson has left his GIF hanger due to rent increase. Wonder who else is on the chopping block. Mike Hoffman has been very quiet but is on the hook for showing his project some meeting Saturday soon. Tony Lewis and Jim Newman are working on Mel Peck's old Sonex project. Rumor has it that Jim may be leaving the area. Joe Perrucci may have picked up one fellow interested In learning basic lathe/mill operations. Anyone else should contact Joe. Dick Wilbers and Tommy Robinson have offered some parts to 601 builders, Ray Mallette and Warren Krabbe. They also might be interested in some of that stuff you are hoarding <G>. Recently they made a quick trip to North Carolina and bought a Corvair engine, assembled to William Wynne specifications, and test run at Corvair College #9. Kelley Clark is working on his quick build RV pedal assembly. Complements to Ed Rice and Dick Wilbers for logging out 229 tools. Maybe this good example will spur others to use the "log out" clipboard found on the desktop. Additionally please use the "sign in" and "report problems" clipboards placed at door .
Don't believe anyone has taken advantage of Joe Perrucci's offer to give some lathe/mill instruction. Meanwhile another member is looking for a little instruction on our tig welder. Anyone want to step up to the plate or do I have to chase you down for him <G>?
Anyone <G> is allowed to empty the 229 trash cans and the trash container is over by the old tee hangers by the FBO…Jim Beisner and Jim Campbell have reserved some project space on table #2 starting 12/8/07. They get whatever they want since Ronnie Campbell sends in those great cookies <G>. Charlie Westerman has been caught hiding a good blade for the bandsaw and leaving a worn out one for the rest of us <G>.. Ryan Michals has visited Bill Borrie's Piet and been around the 229 hanger doing some work for his Skybolt project. Reportedly at the rolling tube fuselage and stack of ribs stage <G>. A mystery donation of many tech books and a set of original 1953 Stitts Playboy "blueprints (actual blue background with white lines)" has shown up. Detective work found Jim Campbells name on some photos…Mystery solved: Wayne Degelleke made the donation!
Does it ever end…Newspapers now report that some states are enforcing "use taxes which can apply to many goods and services bought out of state that are not subject to sales tax. Maine's tax collection agency efforts are to collect taxes on aircraft owned by out-of-staters, even though they bought their planes elsewhere and brought them to Maine only to visit.
Florida accesses a 6% use tax on plane owners who didn't pay sales tax on their planes and bring them to Florida within six months of the purchase date. Maine collects a 5% use tax from [people who didn't pay sales taxes on their plane if they brought their plane into Maine for more than 20 days, excluding time for maintenance and alterations, in the first year of ownership. Washington state assesses a use tax of up to 8.9% if a plane is in Washington for more than 90 days in any continuous 12-month period.
