Newsletter distribution is via email to each person, an electronic copy on the website and a paper copy on the hanger bulletin board. Target distribution is shortly before the monthly First Saturday meeting. The Newsletter is just
fact, fiction, rumor, a mistake or opinion <G>.NOTICE:
Sharing time between the U.K. and Winter Haven, member Peter Davis has volunteered to speak at the First Unofficial 229 Summer Coffee on Saturday, June 7th at 9am concerning how much better the FAA treats GA in the States versus Europe. Anticipate it to be both interesting and informative. He holds both FAA Commercial Ratings and European (JAA) Instructor and Examiner Ratings." Please reserve a seat (and maybe get a little food treat) by replying to writer. Hopefully we can get dozen or more guys together <G>Checkout the 229 website members photo section for Katie Gilbert, Derrell Brown and Duke Bledsoe's projects. Katie and Duke are busy working on their projects while Derrell enjoys his fresh military painted Cub. Mike Bauer, Jack Doke and Jim Martin are coordinating Young Eagle Flights and boy scout efforts on the compass Rose. Not sure if they need more volunteers or not. I believe Jonathan Cooks RV purchase fell through and he is back to building his own. Coffee gang on one Wednesday and following Saturday consisted of 7-8 guys; some were: Jim Campbell, Steve Megill, Steve Alcorn, Jack Sellick, Dick Wilbers, Tommy Robinson. GIF runway 4-22 was shut down for a couple of weeks. It is assumed the new Terminal was the reason. The plan's picture didn't do it justice <G> (so far).
NOTICE! Voluntary sign in at the 229 hanger has been discontinued due to member apathy. The first few months results have provided a good view of the hanger usage however.
Someone borrowed the large Ace/O2 bottles torch and forgot to sign them out. There is a signout sheet on the desk.
With Dick Woodsum leaving for Arizona, is anyone available to give BFR's to 229 members? Thanks to Steve Megill for advise on 601 tail wheel. Ronnie Campbell said she sent in donuts because she didn't make cookies <G>.
Note: EAA has made all Sport Aviation issues from 1953 to 2006 available online, free for members. The archive is also searchable by title, author, and text. You can download PDFs of the entire issue, or just the pertinent article. Pretty cool, methinks.
Rumor has it that Derrell Brown's new Cub spins perfectly as perhaps Ed Rice experienced <G>.
