President Tom Olson chaired the meeting for 22 members present. Walter Lachney brought his Orlando grandson, Ron Flood, to observe the old guys who were fairly well behaved this time <G>. Walt then won the 50-50 which should cover lunch for the two. Walt would rather the meetings be at night so he could fly his Xcaliber on early Saturday mornings. Allen Brown told a story about the old IFR cards the military used way back when. Postcard size and all blue with a center hole. Raising it to the sky, you could fly if the hole showed blue <G>. Allen pointed out that he thought EAA used to give ride to adults which Joe Perrucci promptly named "Bald Eagle" flights.. Ten year member Don Steiner solicited Young Eagle Flight support for the 12 kids in the Victory Churches Christian School Aviation class. Apparently Crystal Kemper of the GIF Taildragger School teaches the class. 229 is providing ground support for the Young Eagles flights on Wednesday 11/19 with a rain date of 11/21. Assembly point is the 229 apron around 9-930am. Perhaps the shop will be open and the current Zodiac 601 project under construction available for a look-see by both the kids and perhaps their parents. Don was elected the new Young eagles Coordinator. Bud Davidson mentioned that Kathleen High School has an aviation class that is conducted out at Sun 'n Fun. Don and Bud are getting together. Bud mentioned that some survey questionnaires had been returned and a summary will probably be made at the next meeting on Saturday 12.06.08. Both the FBO folks and WHPA are being queried also. Jim Campbell and wife have moved into a assisted living at Sterling House in Winter Haven.

History footnote: 229 became a chapter in 1965. A new sign is on the hanger thanks to the efforts of Bob Biggs. It was complicated somewhat and required several trips..

Mike Bauer was elected the new President while experienced Secretary Katie Gilbert volunteered and was elected vice-President. Mike has agreed to do the SNF tie down chairman thing one last time and wants to train someone for 2010.. Warren Krabbe has agreed to continue as Treasurer for 2009. He gave a treasurers report and started collecting 2009 dues.. Carl Morgan showed up and suggested an awning and chairs for kids and parents to view planes outside the 229 hanger. Hence the 229 ceiling stored picnic tables will be available. Charles Edgington of Hummelbird construction fame was present as well as a quiet Tiff Tiffany.

Duke Bledsoe and Jack Doke offered to help Tom Olson with doing the upcoming WHPA Fly Market .

Some discussion was held on which tools were saleable and Mel Peck quickly bought the band saw for $50. Hence nothing going to the Fly Market this year <G>..Somebody said the new coffee/sandwich shop was open at the new FBO but not the remainder of the building. Steve Alcorn had a few shop remarks and agreed that shop should be for aviation related projects only.
