Minutes of 03 October 2009 EAA 229 Meeting.
Meeting was called to order at 09:00 by President Bauer. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
President talked of members who passed away this summer, names are engraved on the plaque.
Treasurer was not present but left statement of account and it was read and accepted.
President gave report of tie downs at this years Sun n Fun - 196 tie downs were sold and after all expenses, the chapter made $2,783.70. It was agreed that we will participate at 2010 Sun and Fun with the possibility of renting out tie downs as well as the selling of. It was also discussed to make 300 sets next year.
Mike Bauer agreed to be Chairman of the tie downs for 2010 with the help of his (irreplaceable) wife Tonie as co-chairperson. Tom Olsen made the motion to participate in tie downs in 2010 2nd by Dick Creswell, motion passed.
Mike appointed Tonie as secretary/news letter editor position, She accepted the position, so please be kind to her!!!!!
It was agreed to participate at the Tail Wheels open house on Saturday November 21st. We will be providing coffee and donuts at a price to be determined at November's meeting. Tonie Bauer will be getting prices for donuts and coffee. Although this is an all day event we will only be participating until noon.
It was addressed that we also do Young Eagles on the same day, however after discussion it was decided that it would be best to arrange a different day in the future for the Young Eagles event.
President brought up that there is a school of avionics at Lakeland airport and that we should start inviting them to these functions to help and maybe get new members from it. Mike said he will be talking with the school with the possibilities of their help for Sun n Fun and future chapter events.
Back Door:
President stated that several times during the summer the back door was found to be unlocked and at one point was left open. The question was raised "How many past member, that are no longer members, still have keys?" Motion made by the president to change locks and to issue new keys to paid members who want them. Motion 2nd by Charles Edgington. Motion passed. Jonathan Cook will be changing both front door and back door locks on the day of the November meeting (Nov, 7).
Charlie Westerman took two old broken down drill presses that did not work, he fixed them and sold them, donated the proceeds, of $29.00 (after expenses).
A request for a new blade for the lawn mower was made - one has been bought.
Webmaster Earl Richardson pays $85.00 a year to maintain our website. There was much discussion as to whether to pay the $85. from the club or accept it as donation and give free chapter membership to Earl. This will be discussed further in the November meeting.
A letter will be sent, by President, to Charlie Westerman, expressing the appreciation of his hard work and dedication with the up keep of the equipment in the hanger. His dues for 2010 will be waived.
The 50/50 drawing was won by Charles Edgington, he kindly donated the money to the chapter.
